Technology A — Pratt Grad ComD

This is the first draft of my work. I used to use multiple colors, but it seems too complicated. So later, I turned to only the simple colors and made some animations for it.

Project Description

Seeing World is a generative artwork coded around the quote from the Pixzar animation movie Soul: “Not necessarily achieving success counts as living. A life that only watching the sky, taking walks, and eating pizza is also very good. I came to this world, just to see how the flowers.” The piece embraces simplicity, balance, and subtle interaction. The canvas is defined by a minimal palette of black, white, and yellow. In the top left corner, an eye is drawn, representing awareness and perception — a reminder of the act of simply looking at the world. On the opposite diagonal rests a bright yellow flower, the focal point of the piece. Its petals are sensitive to touch: when the mouse hovers over them, they turn black, shifting from brightness to shadow, reflecting the fragile and changing states of beauty and life. The background is constructed from a grid, a quiet rhythm of structure and order. Yet within this geometry, transparent squares randomly flicker in and out, suggesting movement, impermanence, and the unpredictable flow of time. Together, these elements form a visual meditation on living. The work invites viewers to pause, to notice the small things, and to embrace the simple joy of seeing the world as it is.
